Blue Sea Land Expo in Trapani

Rome/Trapani [ENA] Blue Sea Land is the International Expo of the production of the Mediterranean and the Middle East and Africa clusters of agro-fishery and Italian and Sicilian food programs to be held in Mazara del Vallo from 28th of September to 1st of October. Mazara del Vallo, part of the province of Trapani, is in southwestern Sicily, Italy, and lies mainly on the left bank at the mouth of the Mazaro river.

The target of the event is to present the research and the innovation of the Cluster models of Agrifood Districts and the Blue Economy, as useful tools along with environmental resources to achieve the protection of marine and land reserves. Following the dialogue, integration and cooperation with the countries of the Mediterranean, the Middle East, North Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, the Expo, now in its sixth year, promotes the development of the Green and Blue Economy taking positive actions in favor of Circular Economy enlarged to all production sectors through sustainable development of marine natural resources and land.

Furthermore, it promotes the economic, social, environmental and cultural innovation in the production processes and the individual and collective responsibility. Blue Sea Land also aims at stimulating and animating the culinary excellence of the agro-fish-food chains, brought together to promote the taste and the technological and cultural features from different parts of the world. Till now the Expo has been able to strengthen the initiative of promotion and development of the cluster model, the production philosophy of the blue economy and intercultural and interreligious dialogue.

Workshops, cooking shows, tastings, conferences, scientific meetings, cultural debates all have been imagined in order boost peace among peoples. Expo takes place in the historic center of Mazara del Vallo and in particular in the casbah, the Arab neighborhood which gives historical importance to the city and for hundreds of years it was the symbol of the encounter between peoples and cultures trading goods and products from all over the Mediterranean. A remarkable intercultural arena where different cultures, religions and ethnicities live together peacefully confirming the identity of Mazara del Vallo.

In the historic center of Mazara, kiosks dedicated to food products of the various districts offer the opportunity to know and taste the products of the participating countries and partner companies.The typical dishes and excellence in food are presented to visitors from all over the world: from seafood, to the best wines and products of Sicily and beyond. Technological innovations in the name of Circular Economy have the ambition to involve visitors in a unique experience through the different cultures and flavors of the sea and land that symbolize the Mediterranean. The Blue Sea Land edition in 2016 showed the presence of well over 100,000 visitors, more than 350 businesses, 85 buyers and about 1,500 B2B meetings.
